Welcome to Episode 4 of the Crochet Luna Podcast

This episode is loaded with CAL information, new yarny goodies and other fun tidbits.  Grab a drink and enjoy!

Thank you Jan Carruthers of Urban Gypsy Crochet for the lovely mention on her podcast.  Hope you are feeling better!

Thank you to Candance O. of the Yarn Craft Council for responding to my inquiry about the lack of 3mm and 7mm hook in the Yarn Craft Council guidelines.  Visit their website for more information.

Here is information on the Summer of Romance CAL hosted by Crochet Cakes and Crochet Luna.

Use #SRCAL for your WIP and your FO.  This CAL will run from June 3rd to August 5th.

Choose a couple from Books, Movies, TV, and showcase your couple with a crochet, knitted or any other hand crafted project.  You can use any pattern, yarn, fabric, etc. that will help you complete your project.

I will host the chatter thread where you can post your WIP and Clarisabeth of Crochetcakes will host the FO thread on Ravelry.  The FO thread is a no chatter thread so please only post the picture of your finished object and the source of your inspiration.

Check out the KAL/CAL hosted by Keep Calm and Carry Yarn.  Post your crochet project and the yards you used to complete it so it can be entered in the Yardage Thermometer in the Ravelry thread for this KAL/CAL.                                     Ravelry: This will be running May 5th to August 10th.

Another CAL to check out is being hosted by Deanne Ramsay of Addydae Designs.  This is the Blurre CAL and it is running May 6 to June 30th.

Deanne also has a podcast on YouTube.  She is an Australian crochet designer.

New Indie Yarn dyer from California.  Check out her Etsy shop: Wolfy Wool.

Fay of The Crochet Circle Podcast is hosting the Festival of Finishing (#festivaloffinishing).  This CrAL is going to help us finish our neglected projects this summer.  Find more information in her show notes:

Amber from the Yarn Hoarder Podcast is hosting the Kevin KAL.  Her beloved pup Kevin has sadly past away but we can honor him and our pets by crocheting a project to enter in this KAL.  She is allowing crochet projects.

I finished my Hotel of Bees Shawl, yay!  I love my shawl and enjoyed participating in my first CAL.  This is a paid pattern by Christina Hadderingh and you can find it at

This CAL is hosted by Sandra of the Cherry Heart Crochet Podcast and Sam of the Betsy Makes Podcast. It runs April 8th to May 31st.  Sandra is hosting the WIP/Chatter thread and Sam is hosting the FO/No Chatter thread

My current WIP is designer’s Kat Goldin’s  Doris Shawl.  I am using a combination of Mrs. Crosby Loves to Play Yarn that was exclusively dyed for the Yarn Over Truck and that I picked up at the Vista Fiber Arts Festival (Vista, CA) last year and Berroco Folio Luxe in the color 4603.

I have added the following yarns to my stash:

Casual Fashion Queen in the colorway Ultimate Booger

The Lemonade Shop in the colorway Broadway

I purchased some cute sheep stitch markers from Kathryn’s Etsy shop:

My sister in law is a romance writer for Harlequin books.  Her name is Teresa Carpenter.

It’s Giveaway Time!  Comment on YouTube episode 4 to participate in this giveaway. Add a picture of your current WIP to the WIP thread on the Crochet Luna Podcast page in Ravelry to earn another entry into the giveaway.  I will choose a two winners.  One from YouTube and one from Ravelry.  Each winner will receive a copy of Take Two by Lynne Rowe & Fay Dashper-Hughes.

Winners will be announced in Episode 5.

I will be adding a new thread to the Crochet Luna Podcast page on Ravelry.  It will be where we can discuss anything that has to do with crochet socks.  Look for the Sock It To Me! thread in Ravelry.  We are lucky enough to have Tamara from Crafty Escapism as our resident sock expert.  She is actually teaching a crochet sock class so who better to help us out!  I showed a free sock pattern by a designer that Tamara suggested.  The designer is Karen Whooley and the pattern is the Cozy Crochet Socks.  She also suggested I look up Rohn Strong and Vicki Brown who also design socks.

Thank you again for all the crochet love and support you send my way.  I really, really appreciate it.  Sending you hugs from sunny Southern California.  Until next time, crochet on!
